Palmier Pro is an open-source video editor for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 26 or later. It combines a native multi-track timeline with AI media generation and a local MCP server that lets tools such as Codex, Claude, or Cursor work with the open project.
Editing and generation in one timeline
Creators can import their own footage, trim and arrange clips, work with audio and text layers, and export a finished video. Optional generation features create images, video, and audio from supported models without requiring the creator to download each asset and rebuild the edit in another application.
What the AI agent can do
Through MCP, an authorized agent can read project context and perform operations such as generating media, placing it on the timeline, trimming, splitting, reordering, and adjusting clips. This makes the project an interesting example of a professional creative tool becoming directly operable by an assistant.
What is free?
The official documentation states that the editor and MCP server can be used without an account. Generative AI features consume credits on paid plans. Editing locally is therefore free, but external model inference is not necessarily free.
Current limitations
It currently requires macOS 26 on Apple Silicon.
AI generation sends selected inputs to external model providers.
Agent edits should be reviewed before export.
Windows support should not be assumed until officially released.
Getting started
Use the current download and tutorials in the official Palmier documentation. Create a disposable test project first, enable MCP only for an assistant you trust, and keep backups before asking an agent to make broad timeline changes.
