How to view and convert CSV data

  1. Add your data. Paste delimited data and choose its delimiter — comma, tab or semicolon.
  2. Clean and filter. Remove incomplete rows, and use the filter box to find matching records.
  3. Export. Download the current data as CSV, or the matching rows as JSON.

What happens to your data

Parsing, filtering and conversion all happen in your browser tab — nothing you paste is uploaded to OpenToolkit.

The table preview shows only the first 200 matching rows for responsiveness, but that cap is a display limit, not a processing one — see the FAQ below for how it affects each download.

Common reasons to use this tool

  • Preview a CSV export before importing it into another system.
  • Convert a spreadsheet export into JSON for a script or API.
  • Spot-check for blank or malformed rows before using a dataset.
  • Filter a large export down to the records you actually need.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing, filtering and conversion all run in your browser tab.

Does the 200-row preview limit my downloads?

No — the on-screen table caps at 200 rows for responsiveness, but Download JSON converts every row matching your current filter, and Download CSV includes the full, unfiltered data currently in the editor.

Does downloading JSON respect my filter?

Yes — it converts exactly the rows matching your filter box, not just the ones currently visible in the preview.

Does downloading CSV respect my filter?

No — Download CSV always saves the complete text currently in the editor, ignoring the filter box.

What does "Clean rows" do?

It removes rows that are entirely blank and re-writes the data with consistent column counts and delimiter formatting.

Is there a row limit for pasted data?

No fixed limit, but very large datasets can make the editor and preview feel slower since everything runs in one browser tab.
